Pricing and licensing
- Beta License — $9, one-time. Available during the beta period. Includes a free upgrade to the general-availability (GA) release once it ships.
- Personal License (GA) — $19, one-time. Includes free updates for the entire 1.x line — there’s no separate renewal to manage. A paid upgrade will be offered for a future 2.0 release, with a discount for existing license holders.
Trial and offline use
Without a license key, SplitLane runs in trial mode: you can register up to 3 rules in total — counting every rule across all groups, enabled or disabled — and Apply only works while 3 or fewer of them are enabled. Importing and exporting rule files requires a license. Entering a license key and verifying it online removes all three limits.
Once verified, SplitLane keeps working offline for up to 14 days without being able to reach the license server. If that 14-day grace period runs out without a successful re-verification, SplitLane drops back to the same trial limits — up to 3 registered rules in total, Apply available only with 3 or fewer enabled, and import/export unavailable — but it does not touch any routes you already applied, and it doesn’t disable the helper. Your existing routing keeps working; you just can’t make new changes until you’re back online and re-verified (or you re-enter a valid key).
How many Macs can I use a license on?
Up to 2 Macs per license key.
Supported VPNs
SplitLane works with VPN connections that create ppp*, utun*, or ipsec* network interfaces — this covers L2TP, IKEv2, and most WireGuard/network-extension-based clients.
Known limitation: some VPN clients — especially ones with a kill switch, or that continuously reassert their own routes — will override or undo the routes SplitLane sets. This is a limitation of that VPN client’s behavior, not something SplitLane can control from outside it.
SplitLane doesn’t establish VPN connections itself; it manages routing for a VPN connection you already have.
Why isn’t SplitLane on the Mac App Store?
App Store sandboxing doesn’t permit routing table changes or privileged helper operations — this app fundamentally requires both. Instead, SplitLane is distributed directly with a Developer ID signature and Apple notarization: Gatekeeper verifies the app before you run it, the same way it would for an App Store app, just without going through the Store itself.
Refunds
Refunds go through Polar (our payment processor) and are honored within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked. If a technical issue is the reason for the request, we’ll also consider refunds beyond that window on a case-by-case basis. Contact support with your purchase email and order date to start a refund.
Is the diagnostic report available in my language?
No — the diagnostic report you copy from the Diagnostics tab is always generated in English, regardless of which language you’ve set the app’s interface to. This is intentional: it keeps the report consistent and readable no matter who ends up reading it. Everything else in the app’s interface is fully localized.
